Exploring pivotal moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe with their places turned upside down, it takes audiences into uncharted territory. Chadwick Boseman’s final Marvel project before his death. The Guardian: [Narration at the beginning of each episode] Time. Space. Reality. It’s more than a linear path. It’s a prism of endless possibilities, where a single decision can branch out into infinite realities, and alternate worlds emerge from the worlds you know. I am the Guardian. I am your guide through these vast new realities. Follow me and ponder the question, “What if?” After the Marvel logo appears, it changes to an animated form in the show’s art style. Inserted into Marvel Studios: Legends: Guardians of the Multiverse (2023). A very straightforward episode where things are rushed to fit the pieces into the puzzle correctly. And my facial expression was pretty straight forward too when I watched this episode, as there was no suspense or logical narrative. I understand it’s an animated series, maybe aimed at kids? But only those kids who are familiar with the entire MCU up to now might be able to enjoy it. Let’s see how the rest of the episodes turn out, but after this one I’m sure I’m not as excited about them. Edit: The 2nd episode gave a real sense of what MCU is all about, it was creative and thoughtful, with big WHAT IF moments. I really enjoyed seeing T’challa back on screen. The 3rd episode was a knockout though, and made me edit this review. It was so suspenseful and exciting to watch, I could have watched an entire movie based on this episode. It re-explored the characters we know on a level that leaves me wanting more. I hope to get to a 10 star episode by the end of the season. Edit II: Here comes my star for a “weird” yet thought-provoking episode that was by far the best of the bunch in terms of script, voiceover, animation and plot. Special mention goes to Benedict Cumberbatch for his masterful voiceover. Kudos to Marvel for this achievement. But now for episode 5: The episode was definitely entertaining, it was humorous and engaging with quality animation, but again showed too much while not giving viewers enough time to take things in. Overall, still a 9/10 for the series, at least until the next two episodes. You’ll have to beat episode 4 to get a 10 from me.
