Synopsis
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, plays a game to take control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from the Bat-Signal in the final frame of the season finale, we’ve never had Robert Pattinson in the lead role of “Penguin.” In this short film, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman?. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of the Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but he failed. However, in his own series, the character is portrayed as a casual smoker with a penchant for cigars.
Batman, for me, simply represented Gotham best on film
The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. In Graham Norton and Guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). The environment was disgustingly dank and visually everything you wanted to see was familiar.
This series fully steps up those aspects and builds on the film perfectly
A big part of that was his underworld of the mafia where Oswald aka Penguin started to take over. I can’t say enough about Colin Farrell’s performance in this role and honestly it could be his magnum opus. The guy gives the character the most determined and driven character he can and does it so well that it resonates. Even without Batman his plot is so strong you don’t even notice it.
I can overlook that though
The rest of the supporting characters are pretty well done although some of the casting choices may seem underwhelming to some. This series continues to build the Batman universe perfectly and I can’t wait to see where it goes next. Definitely one of the best series of the last decade. Give Colin Farrell all the awards he deserves for this role.
