Synopsis
A grieving therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his qualifications and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives – including his own. “Shrinking” shares key moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveals who has the best Harrison Ford impersonation. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they were able to get Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford-type” look and would test with people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least take the project to Ford first, and they thought he would immediately turn it down, but at least others would hear that Harrison Ford had been offered the project, which sparked interest from other big-name actors.
The acting was great
Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still didn’t understand what he did to convince her, but he cheered nonetheless. Featured on WatchMojo: Top 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). It’s a solid production and a very unique story.
Is it perfect?
I love how each character embraces their imperfections, shows vulnerability, and uses humor to help them grow spiritually. Shrinking has so many heartfelt moments, awkward moments, mildly funny, cute moments, and laugh-out-loud moments. I hope they keep making more seasons of this because the character development justifies it. No.
But neither of us are
I think the overuse of swearing takes away from the overall power potential. It’s almost like the writers are forcing it to make the show edgy. I personally don’t think I need it. That’s why I gave it an 8.
