Now to set the stage for my review, I’m not a Saturday Night Live fan, but I also don’t hate the show. I’ve seen clips of this show on YouTube, there were stars from this show who went on to bigger things in their careers, and I only watched one episode and that episode was hosted by Sydney Sweeney. Other than that, this is a show that never grabbed my attention and I’m not much of a sketch comedy fan. However, when I heard that Jason Reitman was directing a movie based on the events that took place before the premiere of this series, I naturally decided to give it a shot and had fun with Saturday Night (2024). Positive things for Saturday Night (2024):
This movie was a chaotic roller coaster from start to finish. This movie has a wild beat that demands you pay attention to it and for the most part it succeeds. The actors do a fantastic job portraying these people from the 70’s and while it was a bit confusing to watch some of them play certain people from that show, they all did a great job in their roles. The comedy in this movie is very funny and some of the skits they performed gave me a few laughs. And finally, the movie did a fantastic job of making this set look and feel chaotic. Negatives for Saturday Night (2024):
The movie is a bit too chaotic for me. There are certain conflicts that seem rushed to resolve without any proper build up. And finally, the movie has such a fast pace that sometimes I couldn’t follow it. Overall, Saturday Night (2024) is a fun experience from start to finish and if you are a fan of this series then I would highly recommend this movie.
