Although I taught Advanced Placement US history for many years my true love is European History, especially the 1700s,1800s,1900s. So many kings and queens and court intrigue! Story after story! Human beings have always learned best through stories. Before written language, our history was kept and passed on by the storyteller. That’s still the best way to teach it. History is just a collection of stories. So teach it Comics studies that way! Stories stick in kid’s minds but facts and dates don’t.
So, Parents, as teachers of the rising generation, how do you make history relevant? As exciting as these stories are, if we don’t learn how to apply them to our day, then we can’t be the epic heroes we need to be, and rescue our sacred and endangered heritage. We’ve got to think!
Spiritual Entitlement begins with the poem “God’s Enlightenment,” which is written in the Shadow Sonnet form (page 1). The inventor of this poetic form is Amera M. Anderson. This form is similar to the American Sonnet which does not use end rhymes and has a syllable count of unequal lines. This poem sends tribute to her mother for the lessons she learned from her as a daughter. The creator of this poetic form is Jim T. Henriksen. Additionally, the Poetics lines send a clear message that such an act of judgment rest only with God the Creator.
