Synopsis
CIA agent Joe tries to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the spear in the agency’s war on terror. Real-life military advisors helped produce a more authentic execution of weapons handling, house clearance, positioning, squad-based activity, etc. Best new show out there, after a disappointing 4th season of Jack Ryan, and lackluster shows all around, this one felt much better in every way.
Great acting by all
It feels really well made and the action/fight scenes look amazing. I feel like most of the criticism of this show in the comments section seems to boil down to how unrealistic it is because of the whole female operator thing, and I, for one, a guy, don’t mind a good female-led action show that’s an original IP that doesn’t go and make a male lead a female lead. I also haven’t seen any red flags so far, like making every man look incompetent or anything.
PS: So far, Nicole Kidman’s part is incredibly small and uneventful and could have been played by anyone else
Also, at first I thought it would be a more action-oriented, no-frills show, but then they kind of delved into the family a bit and I usually cringe at that, but I didn’t dislike what they did there. My only criticism is that the plot of what this specific group of operators does is very limiting to the story and could kill it by moving past a season’s plot/villain… it needs to be more comprehensive so they can make a more intense new Homeland at a faster pace, otherwise it risks becoming too episodic like a Blacklist.
We’ll see what the great Morgan Freeman brings to the show
But from what I’ve seen so far, the show could stand on its own with Zaldana without any other A-listers. TLDR Overall, cautiously optimistic, but I like what I’ve seen so far, everything is incredibly polished and well done. It’s entertaining even if it’s not the History Channel show that some commentators seem to prefer.
