After the credits, there’s a wall
Synopsis
A single father and two women decide to leave the safety of their homes to face monstrous creatures in order to save the life of a young boy. Elevation definitely has an intriguing concept, but it feels like the filmmakers didn’t quite know where to direct it.
Overall, it’s a decent film – well-shot, with some stunning visuals and a solid enough story
However, by the time you’re done watching the film, you’re left with more questions than answers, which can be a bit disappointing. It’s one of those films that feels like a set-up for a bigger, more elaborate sequel like A Quiet Place .
The biggest draw, however, was the acting
Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of that film. Anthony Mackie does a great job, and the entire cast is excellent.
Visually, the film is stunning with some beautifully shot walls that really capture the atmosphere
I particularly liked Morena’s portrayal of the disgruntled scientist – he added a nice layer to the group dynamic. As for the creature design, it was decent but nothing groundbreaking – you’ve probably seen similar designs in other movies.
A solid entry into the genre, but it doesn’t really do much new
If you’re a fan of otherworldly action thrillers, this one might be worth a watch. But if you don’t like movies like “A Quiet Place” or similar thrillers, “Vozvyshenie” probably won’t change your mind.
