Synopsis

The ghosts of a deceased husband and wife are haunted by an insufferable family who have moved into their home and hired a malevolent spirit to exorcise them. This is his favorite Michael Keaton movie.. Otho’s shoes when he spray paints the walls in the house, he changes from his red fire truck elf looking shoes to white sneakers as he walks through the bathroom and then changes back to his red elf shoes when he goes into the next room rooms. Adam : What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Oh. Well… I’m a graduate of Harvard Business School.

I travel quite a lot

I survived the black plague and had a pretty good time doing it. I’VE SEEN THE EXORCIST ABOUT 167-SEVEN TIMES AND EACH TIME I WATCH IT GET FUNNER… NOT TO MENTION YOU’RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY… NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK? Do you think I am qualified? The Geffen logo is accompanied by a haunting version of the Banana Boat song (sung by the film’s composer Danny Elfman). A work print of the film has surfaced with several added/alternate scenes.

Instead of a desert, he sees an empty darkness full of rolling gears

This version of the film runs about 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical release, has a few extra scenes and some others missing, is in black and white, and has a timecode on the bottom. This version has 4 main differences: Alternate Scene: The scene where Adam tries to leave the house and his wife dies is different. Extra Scenes: There is an added scene where Lydia creates pictures of Adam and Barbra. After her mother yells at her and accuses her of cutting holes in her sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the pictures are real. There is more to the scene where the adults search the attic for ghosts as we see a desert monster try to eat Adam and Barbra as they hang from the attic window. Finally, there’s another 2 minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school and her parents on the phone with Jane telling her they don’t want to sell the house. Lydia’s dance scene is shorter in this version and there is no scene with Beetlejuice in the waiting room.

Adapted into Terror Toons (2002)

The film ends with the last exterior shot of the house. Day-OTraditional, lyrics by William A. Attaway & Irving Burgie [Incorrectly listed as written by William A. Attaway & Irving Burgie (as Lord Burgess)] Featuring Harry Belafonte courtesy of RCA Records. This is by far Michael Keaton’s best performance. Every time he comes on screen, he delivers a performance so outlandish that it rivals Jim Carrey from “The Mask,” only without the help of computers. If his role calls for rudeness, he brings resistance; pushy, offensive; funny brings hilarious sarcasm.

This is a classic

One of my few complaints is that he doesn’t get enough screen time, even though he gets a lot of it, most of it going to Gena Davis and Alec Baldwin. Tim Burton’s direction is great. My favorite scene by far doesn’t even have Michael Keaton. Anyone who saw it will remember it as the dinner dance scene. If you haven’t seen it yet, you must have grown up under a rock or were born before me.
