A group of friends are terrorized by a stalker who knows of a gruesome incident from their past. In 2014 it was reported that director Mike Flanagan and screenwriter Jeff Howard were developing a reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). In a 2016 episode of the podcast "Shockwaves", Flanagan said that the film would have no connection to the 1973 novel or the 1997 film, and that the scope of the film required an estimated budget of between $15–20 million. This planned film ultimately fell through, and a reboot of the TV series, I Know What You Did Last Summer (2021), was released instead.
