A modern tale of fortune-telling in the world of West Texas oil rigs. Check out writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s most popular movies and TV series on IMDb, ranked by user rating. A landowner, at least one who works in the oil industry, will serve as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners who have mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases, so that they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, build housing for workers (man camps), supervise the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the well site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also, in part, fixers, problem solvers, and facilitators. Referenced in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). So far the show is good, very good, one feeling I can’t shake is the girl. In the show they state the girl is 17 and then they sexualize her in extreme ways! Shower scene, talking about sex with her dad, showing her butt! All of these scenes have nothing to do with the plot and make for uncomfortable viewing. I understand what they are doing with the character, a girl going down the wrong path and her dad is going to put her back on the right path. It could have easily been avoided just saying she was 18, you can be 18 and still be in high school! I wish they would rewrite her charter and I have no idea how that got through to the editors.
