Synopsis
Liane is 19 years old and lives with her mother and sister in Fréjus in the south of France. Absorbed in her aspirations of beauty and fame, she auditions for the reality show “Island of Miracles”. Agatha Riedinger’s film does not repeat romantic clichés. It is wonderfully authentic and as unsweetened as life. Perfect acting and creation of characters to whom it is difficult not to get attached. Excellent script, which consciously – with a maturity rarely seen among debutants – avoids the beaten paths of drama. The director suggests them and then consistently leads us on a different path. The reality of this film differs from the black and white simplifications to which decades of patriarchal narrative have accustomed us. Here, the subject is a woman. Beautiful cinematography, amazing debut. 10/10.
