In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman?
Synopsis
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take over the reins of Gotham’s underworld. Except for the bat signal in the last shot of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson cameo in The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his smoking tobacco version of The Penguin in Batman (2022) but failed. However, his own series portrays the character as a casual tobacco user who prefers cigars.
Pharrell STEALS this episode
The DC Studios logo is placed on a drizzly alley in Gotham. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. With Graham Norton and guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024).
He is impressive
There is nothing about the character that even hints at Farrell. The NY accent, the swaying and limping, the attitude: you’d swear it’s a different person. The amazing prosthetics are very realistic and complement the character. The show is serious and graphic.
Well written and tight
There is nothing cartoonish about it. It’s a great counterpoint to Christopher Nolan’s Batman. In fact, I’d say it blows the Marvel line out of the water. I hope there’s a season 2 but I know it’s limited.
It’s a shame
